Moving Services for La Crosse Residents

Apartment Movers

La Crosse has three colleges and plenty of rentals. We move apartments and student houses near UW-La Crosse, Viterbo and Western Technical College, including upper units in older houses.

Residential Movers

We move homes on the Northside, the Southside and up on the bluffs. Our movers pad furniture, protect doorways and set up beds and tables at the new house.

Long-Distance Movers

Moving across the river to Minnesota or across the country? Your shipment rides on a dedicated truck and arrives in 2 to 3 days.

Junk Removal

The City of La Crosse does not collect large items at the curb. We haul away furniture, mattresses, appliances and electronics and recycle or donate what we can.

Storage

Short-term and long-term storage in climate-controlled facilities monitored 24/7, with pickup and delivery by our movers.

Need more? We also offer packing, commercial moving, piano and hot tub moving, furniture moves, senior moves and labor-only help in La Crosse.

La Crosse Street Permits for Moving Trucks, Dumpsters and PODs

La Crosse has clear permit rules for moves. Plan for them before move day.

Permit Cost Processing time
Dumpster or portable storage container (POD) in the right-of-way $75 for 14 days About 5 days
Temporary Street Privilege Permit (blocking or using the right-of-way) $50 for 5 days, then $25 per extra week 5 to 7 days

Working without a required permit can bring a $500 penalty, according to the City of La Crosse Engineering Department. If your move needs a truck or container to sit in the street, apply at least a week ahead.

Snow Emergency Parking

La Crosse uses alternate side parking only when a snow emergency is declared. Emergencies are announced with at least 6 hours of notice and last 48 hours. Park on the odd-numbered side on odd dates and the even side on even dates. If a snow emergency hits your move date, call us and we will adjust the plan.

La Crosse Neighborhoods Our Movers Know

Goosetown and the Northside. Older homes on smaller lots near the La Crosse River marsh. Street parking is tight, so a permit or an early start helps.

Cass and King Street and the 10th and Cass historic area. Large historic homes with grand staircases and tall doorways. We pad banisters and use door jamb protectors on older trim.

Bluffside, Grandview Emerson and homes near Grandad Bluff. Steep driveways and sloped yards. Tell us about the grade and the steps so we plan the carry.

College Park and the campus area. Student rentals near UW-La Crosse. UWL moves students into the halls in early September and closes halls in mid-May, so those weeks book up.

Moving Season in the Coulee Region

The busiest weeks in La Crosse line up with the schools. UW-La Crosse hall move-in runs over several days in early September, and each hall has its own unloading lot. Viterbo and Western Technical College start their fall terms around the same time. If you are moving a student, book as soon as you know the date.
